It’s hard to believe that it has been three years already since Texas Ale Project first arrived on the scene and opened its doors.  This past Saturday on April 28th, TAP Fest (Three Year Anniversary) took place and I was there first hand to cover all the excitement.

The weather was perfect with the sun out and temperatures in the mid-80s.  Most of the beer for the day was set up in the tap room or in the brewery itself.  The outside did have one tent set up with a couple taps as well as a tent for merchandise.  There were corn-hole boards set out to play and a tent featuring Gypsy Heart Henna.  Tables with benches around trees helped for seating and blocked some of the heat, but you could always go inside to drink beer and walk around.
Easy Sliders were there to feed the masses and I can tell you right now, they are delicious!  The Nutty Pig might just be the oddest and best thing I have tasted in a long time — loaded with Angus beef, bacon, green leaf lettuce, Roma tomatoes, red onions, and creamy peanut butter.  You must try this regardless of how strange it might sound.
For another sweet option, Steel City Pops were also there to cool you off.
Now that we have set the tone for the day, let’s talk beer because that is all that really matters.  If you are familiar with TAP then you know some of the their core beers.  If you are not then this event was perfect because the line up was great.
Each ticket included eight samples.  You also had the option to purchase full pints.  The list had something for everyone!  If you are like me, I just started at the top and worked my way down.

Just looking at this list makes me want to call Uber.  The great thing about events like this is that if you find something that isn’t your style, you have plenty other options to choose from.  For me, the three beers that stole the show and kept me going back were: The Caucasian 2017 BBA, TAP Anniversary IPA, and Oaty McOatface with Coffee and Maple.  Don’t get me wrong, I had plenty that I would recommend but those kept calling my name.
Everyone that worked or volunteered at this event was super informative and happy to be there.  TAP is also dog friendly and the paws were out enjoying the festival too.  The day had a great soundtrack with live music from Blake Burrow, Matt Brooks, and Atlantis Aquarius.
If you haven’t made it out to the brewery yet, I recommend you do a tour or come out for an event.  The staff is great, the place is awesome, and the beer never stops flowing.
