Let’s admit it. This summer has been pretty mild for Texas. We’ve had plenty of cloudy and rainy days, but sadly we’re in the worst month for high temps. So here are 8 cool craft beers to chill you out when the daily temps hit 100+!
1. Epic Brewing’s Los Locos
A hint of sea salt and real lime juice makes this Mexican-Style Lager for sitting by the pool.
2. Independence Brewing’s Revolucion
This session Saison is a perfect complement to your carne asada, fajitas, carnitas and al pastor.
3. Avery Barrel Aged Ginger Sour
A super refreshing ginger bite nestled inside a floral barrel-aged tart sour.
4. Tallgrass Brewing’s Key Lime Pie
Sour lime and sweet vanilla ends with a graham cracker sweetness in every sip.
5. Denton County Brewing’s Texas IPA
East Coast meets West Coast IPA! All of the flavor and aroma of a West Coast IPA with grapefruit and lime notes; but has the juicy mouthfeel of an East Coast IPA with a clean and delicate bitter finish.
6. Community Passiflora
The wheat, mosaic and citrus hops blend beautifully with passion fruit to create an invigorating Summer tartness.
7. Oasis Brewing’s Protomodern
The next in Oasis Brewing’s Modern IPA Series is an 8.5% IPA that pays homage to the early IPAs. Protomodern looks amber and malty, but has the hop bite and crisp taste of a West Coast original with a fruity twist.
8. Martin House True Love
This Raspberry kettle sour brew is a vibrant purple color. The raspberries add a slight sweetness to balance the sour of this brew to give you a perfect replacement for Summer Time popsicles.
Here are some shelf beers you may have forgotten about this year. These are amazing summer sippers that you can find most anywhere. So while chasing the new and the rare, you should revisit these in the meantime:
Lakewood Brewing’s All Call
Lakewood’s most philanthropic beer yet! A portion of the sale of every keg goes to Guns and Hoses, a charity that assists the families of fallen first responders.
Montucky Cold Snacks
Brewed by Jeremy and Chad as a sipping beer that we can all enjoy on the ski slopes, hiking on our favorite trails, or just sitting on the back porch.
Firestone Pivo Pils
A standard from Firestone Walker because of its easy pilsner flavor kicked up with a hint of hop bite.
Oskar Blues Dale’s Pale Ale
We’ve all had it, we all love the subtle hops, but when did you last sip on a Dale’s?
Armadillo Ale Works’ Green Belt
Lead Brewer and Co-Founder, Bobby Mullin’s first beer hit the streets like a ton of bricks. This Farmhouse Wit was brewed to pay homage to the greatest trail north of Denton and is perfect for a summer afternoon bike ride.
